Cuban Sandwich

Every Cuban sandwich lover knows that the secret to the sammie’s success is the assembly. And this recipe is no exception. The BBQ pulled pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, pickle and yellow mustard between L&B French Bread create layers of irresistible flavor, making this sandwich something you simply can’t refuse. And because it’s made with L&B Ready To Heat BBQ Pulled Pork, it’s super simple to make for quick weeknight meals.

If you don’t have a sandwich press, make sure you have something on hand with a substantial amount of weight — a cast-iron pan works great. One last tip? Don’t plan on sharing. One bite of this meaty, tangy, cheesy and perfectly crunchy sandwich and you’ll want to devour the whole thing yourself!

3 servings
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

1 loaf L&B French Bread
¾ cup yellow mustard, divided
6 slices Mt. Olive Kosher Dill Sandwich Stuffers Pickles, divided
9 slices deli ham, divided
6 slices Swiss cheese, divided
3 cups L&B Ready To Heat BBQ Pulled Pork, divided

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. On a large cutting board, slice the French bread into 3 6-inch loaves, and slice each loaf in half lengthwise.
  3. Spread ¼ cup of yellow mustard on the insides of each loaf.
  4. Layer 2 pickles, 3 ham slices, 2 slices Swiss cheese and 1 cup pulled pork onto each sandwich.
  5. Heat 2 large cast-iron skillets over low heat for 3 minutes. Place the sandwiches in one skillet and use the bottom of the second skillet to gently flatten the sandwiches. They should be about 2 ½ inches thick.
  6. Transfer the stacked skillets to the oven and bake for 10 minutes or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
  7. Transfer the sandwiches to a cutting board, slice them in half diagonally and enjoy hot.
