Brazilian Lemonade

When life hands us limes, we make Brazilian Lemonade! With four simple ingredients and a lot of bright flavor, this lemonade, also referred to as Limonada suíça, is a smooth operator from the very first sip. It’s quick and easy to prepare for a crowd-pleasing, cool refreshment on a hot summer day.

The condensed milk brings a touch of sweetness to mellow out the pucker and offers a luxe mouthfeel. Just be sure to stir after pouring so all of that delicious milk can get incorporated. We call for rum, but this recipe also plays well with tequila or Prosecco — or keep it booze-free and kid-friendly. Any way you prepare it, this drink is sure to add a dash of sass to your next summer soiree.

8 servings
Preparation time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

7 limes, halved and then quartered
7 cups water
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup white rum (optional)
Ice, for serving

Special equipment: Fine-mesh strainer

Directions

  1. In a blender, combine the limes, water, sweetened condensed milk and rum, if using.
  2. Blend on high speed for 15 seconds, or until the limes are puréed and the drink is frothy.
  3. Using a fine-mesh strainer, carefully strain the lemonade into a large pitcher. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve and for up to 1 day.
  4. Serve the Brazilian Lemonade over ice. Enjoy!
