Encourage reducing the use of paper and plastic bags

Encourage use of reusable bags [Reuse & Reward Program]

  • Our Reuse & Reward Program encourages customers to bring in their own reusable bags. For every reusable bag we use to bag your groceries, we’ll make a 5-cent donation to locally-based Second Harvest Heartland, the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger relief organization.
  • When 1 reusable bag is used, 2.5 disposable bags are saved from the waste stream.

Recycle plastic bags at our store [It’s in the Bag Program]

  • We participate in the Recycling Association of Minnesota’s It’s in the Bag Program, which allows customers to recycle plastic bags and plastic film in bins at the front of our stores. The plastic is recycled into composite lumber, which is used in the construction of decks and railings.
