From our friends the Wetzel family, this wine never disappoints! A medium-bodied California red wine full of black currants and dark cherries, it features a wonderfully long finish on the palate. First produced in 1975, our Cabernet Sauvignon is elegant and balanced. Our estate vineyards are planted on diverse, well drained sites resulting in low yields and rich, concentrated flavors. Each lot is destemmed and fermented separately to maximize complexity. We barrel age in our caves for 14 months and blend Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot to craft a complex and polished wine that is enjoyable now and will age for 10-15 years. 14% alcohol by volume.

The Russian River bordering our family's estate vineyards is responsible for the cooling fog that develops the acidity in our Chardonnay grapes. To retain those bright citrus and green apple flavors we cold ferment and age 70% in stainless steel. The balance is fermented in French oak barrels, undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages on the lees for 6-8 months adding body and a hint of creaminess to the wine. Homestead Red Blend celebrates the history and spirit of Northern Sonoma's Alexander Valley. Settled in the 1840s by namesake Cyrus Alexander, the valley's warm days, cool nights and diverse soils produce world class red wines. To celebrate the region we blended 45% Merlot for rich power, 34% Zinfandel for pepper and spice, 8% Grenache for fruitiness, 6% Mourvedre for texture, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon for elegant structure and 2% Syrah with lush berry flavors. First planted on the Wetzel Family Estate in the 1960s, Merlot is one of our most versatile grapes. With its aromatic nose, silky texture and abundant fruit, it is a major blending component for many of our red wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Cyrus, our proprietary red blend. With a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon blended in, this 2009 Merlot displays the qualities that make it a mainstay in our red wine program. Flavors of blackberry, cassis and sweet oak are neatly framed by soft tannins. This wine can be enjoyed immediately or aged for a decade or more. Small Sangiovese vineyards are farmed exclusively for this rose. Heavy pruning promotes even ripening while maintaining acidity and minerality in the grapes. We leave the juice in contact with the skins for a few hours to achieve the perfect pink hue, then cold ferment in stainless steel to maintain the bright flavors. Our dry Rose of Sangiovese jumps out of the glass with intense aromatics and is rich and full bodied with big flavors of strawberry, watermelon, raspberry and mint.
