Saint Paul, Minn. (September 15, 2020) – Lund Food Holdings, Inc. has entered into a long-term lease agreement with Ryan Companies to open a full-service Lunds & Byerlys grocery store in the Highland Bridge development on the former Ford site in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood. The new 51,000-square-foot grocery store is anticipated to open in 2022 and will feature the best of what Lunds & Byerlys has to offer, including an extensive selection of prepared foods, specialty products and two levels of covered parking. The new grocery store will anchor the first large mixed-use project at Highland Bridge, which will also include 230 apartments.
“It has been with a tremendous amount of pride that we have served the Highland Park community for more than 37 years, and we’re excited to open a new store less than a block away that will create an enhanced shopping experience for our customers,” said Tres Lund, CEO of Lunds & Byerlys. “This new store will be nearly 20% larger than our current store, so we can meet the needs of today’s customers and the many future customers we’ll serve as the community continues to grow.”
The existing Lunds & Byerlys at 2128 Ford Parkway will remain open until the grand opening of the new store to ensure customers have uninterrupted access to Lunds & Byerlys products and services. The general shopping pattern in the grocery aisles will be similar to the existing store’s aisles to alleviate the typical disruption caused by creating new in-store shopping patterns. Most important, Lunds & Byerlys will maintain the same world class team in place, many of whom have served the Highland Park community for decades.
