A creative twist on a classic brunch dish.

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, maple syrup, orange zest, lemon zest, ground cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
In a separate bowl, stir together the cream cheese, maple syrup, orange zest, lemon zest, ground cardamom, and cinnamon. Add the filling to a piping bag and cut off the tip.
Slice the bread into approximately ¾ inch pieces. Cut a slit about ¾ way through the bread slices and fill the inside using the piping bag.
Melt the butter (about 2 Tablespoons per batch) and cook the french toast for about 4-5 minutes per side on medium heat until golden brown.
Garnish with your favorite toppings! Ideas include berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar or honey.
