Devilish Hot Cocoa

Cayenne adds a surprising kick to this sinfully rich cocoa.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • ¾ cup hot chocolate mix of your choice
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ½ tablespoons brandy or Irish whiskey optional

Instructions

  1. In a 2 ½-quart saucepan, combine milk, hot chocolate mix, cayenne pepper and salt over medium heat.

  2. Heat mixture, stirring to dissolve cocoa mix, until steaming hot. Do not boil.

  3. Stir in alcohol, if desired.

  4. Divide hot chocolate among 4 mugs and top each with a large dollop of whipped cream.
