Why everyone’s talking about matcha

If you’re looking for a delicious, antioxidant-rich food, you’ve got to try matcha!

Made up of powdered green tea leaves, matcha gives you ten times the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants of regular green tea, simply because you are eating the entire tea leaf.

Matcha was originally used as a meditation aid for Japanese monks, who would drink it to stay alert but calm for hours. Matcha is rich in L-Theanine, an amino acid that helps promote this state of relaxation and is believed to also help memory and brain function.

Matcha also contains a unique, potent class of antioxidant known as catechins, which some say can help fight cancer and counteract the effects of free radicals from pollution, UV rays and chemicals in our daily lives.

You can drink matcha as tea by frothing it in hot water with a bamboo whisk, or mix it into baked goods or smoothies

Look for The Republic of Tea Matcha in the tea aisle.
