Fall is the bakery’s time to shine! We have such a fantastic variety of apple products and as we dive deeper into the season, we turn to pumpkin!
Did you know that pumpkin is rich in dietary fiber, anti-oxidants, minerals and vitamins? It’s a local vegetable grown in many Midwest fields and provides a rich sweet flavor to many of our bakery treats.
Aside from a few of our traditional classics such as pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread loaves, pumpkin donut holes, pumpkin cheesecake and white iced pumpkin cookies – we have a few new pumpkin items available this fall.
New Pumpkin Bakery Treats
- I’m excited about our new mini pumpkin turnovers – I know it takes a bit to process in your head, as it’s not your traditional pumpkin treat. Layers of flakey pastry enclosing a sweet cinnamon-pumpkin filling… it’s delicious! These are available in limited quantities, so be sure to get a bite before they’re gone!
- Our traditional pumpkin pie has changed a little bit this year. We’ve left the sweet filling and nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon; however, we’ve improved our pie crust and baking process. The rich crust now flakes with a touch of your fork and bakes all the way through straight to the bottom of the crust – pumpkin pie the way it’s supposed to be! Available in 9” and 11” sizes a little closer to Thanksgiving or by special order.
- We also have a new gluten-free pumpkin pie available through our friends at Down in the Valley Bakehouse. Look for all our pumpkin pies in the refrigerated sections (we don’t use preservatives, so we need to keep them cold!)
- We usually carry pizzelles (those thin Italian waffle cookies) during the holidays in vanilla and anise, but we’re moving things around a little bit this year. Pumpkin spice pizzelles are really delicious. Look for chocolate mint after Thanksgiving as well. Yum!

So, as the weather cools and our appetite for comfort food starts to take over, pumpkin is a great choice. And when you add our sweet cream cheese icing topped on our pumpkin cakes or rolled into our pumpkin cake rolls, it makes me wonder if we should offer pumpkin baked goods all year round…
