How long have you worked for Lunds and Byerly’s?
16 years.
What led to your interest in cooking and product development?
Ever since I was a little boy, I have always been fascinated by how things are made. Growing up, I was always taking things apart to figure out what would make them do what they do. I lived on a dairy farm west of the Twin Cities and come from a fairly large German family. Anytime we had a family gathering, there was an amazing assortment of dishes and desserts – of course I had to know how to make them all.
My mother was truly my inspiration, as well as my grandmothers. I was always amazed how they could just throw together a dish and make it taste amazing. So I started watching them, creating my own experiments and I’ve been cooking ever since.
