New award-winning gouda in our cheese department
If you like spicy, you’ll love our new Marieke Jalapeño Gouda. This handcrafted, artisan cheese is made at a family-owned farm in Thorp, Wisconsin, using an authentic Old World Dutch Gouda recipe.
Marieke Gouda is made with rBGH-free raw cows milk; the equipment, cultures, herbs and spices are all imported from Holland. The cheese curd is hand packed into 18 pound forms before going under the press, then brined for 60 hours and aged on planks of Dutch pine. During this time, a breathable coating is hand-painted onto the cheese.
Since 2006, Marieke Gouda has won more than 80 national and international awards; in 2014, it received first place in the American Cheese Society competition.
Marieke Jalapeño Gouda is creamy with just the right amount of heat. Try it for yourself – it’s like a party in your mouth! It’s perfect for nachos at your next football party, or try grating it on top of a big pot of our Spicy Three Bean Chili.
