Apple-Almond Crisp
One of our favorite fall desserts, sprinkled with a delightful toasted almond topping.

Ingredients
For the topping:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons Lunds & Byerlys Apple Pie Spice
- ¾ cup chilled butter (1 ½ sticks), cut into ½-inch cubes
- 1 cup sliced almonds, toasted
For the filling:
- ¾ cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon Lunds & Byerlys Apple Pie Spice
- 4 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
Directions
For the topping:
- Whisk flour, brown sugar and apple pie spice in bowl to blend.
- Add butter and rub in with finger tips or pastry blender until the size of peas.
- Mix in almonds; set aside.
For the filling:
- Heat oven to 350 F.
- Butter 13×9-inch baking dish.
- In large bowl, whisk sugar, flour, lemon zest and apple pie spice. Add apple slices and vanilla; toss to coat.
- Spoon filling into prepared dish. Sprinkle topping over.
- Bake until apples are tender and topping is golden and crisp, about 1 hour. Cool at least 10 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
