Lunds and Byerly’s stores rebrand under unified name: Lunds & Byerlys

The first “Lunds & Byerlys” exterior sign will be revealed at Byerly’s in Woodbury on April 30.

EDINA, Minn. (April 27, 2015) –Lund Food Holdings, Inc. is combining its separate Lunds and Byerly’s store brandsunder one unified name: Lunds & Byerlys.

The rebranding will begin at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 30 at the Woodbury store, located at 7050 Valley Creek Plaza, where a grand reopening event will take place and new Lunds & Byerlys storefront signage will be revealed.

Customers and media are invited to take part in the celebration, with pre-event musical entertainment from the Woodbury High School Drumline, followed by a special ceremony and fireworks to conclude the event. The store will then officially open at 11 a.m., and attendees will be invited to enjoy food demonstrations and more. The first 500 customers will receive a free reusable grocery bag. Of those bags, 50 will include a $10 Lunds & Byerlys gift card and one will include a $100 Lunds & Byerlys gift card.

Beginning April 30, customers will see new employee uniforms, name badges, grocery bags and more at every Lunds & Byerlys store. New storefront “Lunds & Byerlys” signage will be installed at every location by the end of May.

“After growing together for 75 years, it’s time to combine our two great store brandsunder one unified name: Lunds & Byerlys,” said Tres Lund, president and CEO of Lund Food Holdings, Inc.,and grandson of founder, Russell T. Lund. “From our robust selection of quality products and exceptional customer service, to our passionate expertise that customers can expect at any of our stores, it’s a natural next step to combine our names as yet another exciting evolution of our brand.”

All employees will retain their current positions within the company throughout the rebranding, and customers can expect the same exceptional shopping experience. In fact, the company is currently hiring at all stores and facilities.

When Lunds purchased Byerly’s in 1997, the stores began blending everything from store operations and product procurement to training and development. The individual brand names came together with the launch of Lunds & Byerlys premium private label products in 2004, Lunds & Byerlys Real Food magazine in 2005, and a unified website in 2006.

“We have built a strong working and shopping experience because of our extended family of employees, which includes more than 55,000 people throughout our 75-year history, with nearly 4,000 working here today,” Lund said. “With our new unified Lunds & Byerlys brand we’re further demonstrating to our customers that every store represents the best of what each brand has always offered.”
