Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked wild rice
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
Basic cooking method.

Directions

  1. Rinse wild rice in strainer under running water or in bowl of water; drain. In heavy saucepan, bring wild rice, water and salt to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, until kernels are open and tender but not mushy (45-55 minutes). Drain. Prepare one of the additions below, if desired; stir into cooked wild rice.

Tips:
1 pound wild rice measures 2 2/3-2 3/4 cups
- 1 cup uncooked wild rice = 3-4 cups cooked
- 1 pound wild rice cooked = about 20-24 (1/2 cup) servings
